About

Welcome and Hallo! I have been blogging here for a while but only so my family could keep up with my adventures. Many of my newer posts are about traveling and exploring the world. If you have any questions about the places I have been or would like suggestions of what to do/where to stay, just ask! I hope that as you read, you not only gain some knowledge about exciting places to visit, but also become inspired to go out and explore for yourself – whether it be through travel, gastronomy, friendship or love.

I am a molecular biologist with a passion for travel, food and laughter. After living in North Carolina for over 10 years, I relocated to Germany where I live with mein Mann and continue to work in the field of genomics. I dream of owning a business with my “partner in crime”, Christian – but just haven’t figured out how to interweave science, travel, woodwork, painting miniatures and making the big bucks.

Ich spreche Deutsch. Manchmal. Ok, I know people. So, fragen Sie mich.

Hey there. I use a free one. WordPress is a bit confusing and I really did have to look and try and look and try things over and over again. But maybe I can save you some pain and agony.

When you log in, look at the panel on your left. You should see a column of things to choose from: Stats, Plan, Blog Posts, Pages, Testimonials, etc.

First, you need to create some PAGES. I created my pages for Home, Living in Germany, Travel, Genes and Science.

Second, you need to create some BLOG POSTS (which I know you’ve already got under control!)

Lastly, you need to organize you PAGES and BLOG POSTS under the MENUS. Go back to the column on the left and click “Menus”. This should allow you to organize your stuff into handy dandy drop-down menus. You really just have to play with it until you get what you like.

      Here’s what I did:
I have 2 available menu areas on my site (WordPress tells me this on the top of my “Menus” page – ‘2 menu areas on this site’) and I’ve selected to work with Primary Menu in order to organize my drop-down menus. Next, I selected “+Add new menu”. Now I have a Menu 1. Under this menu I added my PAGES. Then under each page I added my relevant BLOG POSTS, which have already been written and saved as a BLOG POST.

I hope this helps. Happy blogging!

Now look at the top to see how your page is operating. I’ve selected “Primary Menu” (not Social Menu) on the left and “Add New Menu” on the right. Then I created pages for each thing I wanted a dropdown for –
